The Genesis: Mr. Hari Ram having Post Graduation in Social Science alongwith experience of Social work with IERT, Allahabad and Vigyan Shiksha Kendra, Atarra, Banda for around 15 years (by that time in 1990) Initiated the organisation namely Paryavaran Evam Prodyogiki Utthan Samiti (PEPUS) in the year 1989 On the initiation of Mr. Hari Ram a team of 9 members having diversified experience of Social field resolved to form a Society as said above.

The BASIS & History: The Basis of the origination of the society came into the mind of Social Workers while working with the downtrodden and the marginalized communities that the people they were working with are living under pathetic conditions. These communities are trapped under vicious circle of poverty. Also their awareness level was quite low and they considered it as their fate and were totally hopeless for any change in it. These Social Workers believed in the "Establishment of an exploitation free society". For the same Paryavaran Evam Prodyogiki Utthan Samiti (PEPUS) was Established and Registered in 1990 under Societies Registration Act, 1860, having FCRA in the year 1994. PEPUS is regularly striving for building and strengthening capacities of Community Level Institutions like Self Help Groups and Community Based Organizations with participatory approach. PEPUS is also providing its inputs in different ways for strengthening the Migrant Worker community and their left out families. All these efforts have been implemented in rural working areas of total of 170 Gram Panchayats of four Blocks namely Naugarh (Chandauli), Kaudihar (Allahabad), Bihar (Pratapgarh) and Muratganj (Kaushambi) Uttar Pradesh.

THE VISION: “Establishment of an exploitation free society”. PEPUS firmly believes that all sections of society must be self reliant and same time inter/intra dependency may be there.

THE MISSION: The Mission of the organisation is to make such sections of the society those who are far away from the Development & Basic needs, make them self reliant through Education, Training & Awareness and also to work for Gender Equality and Women Empowerment. In order to reach the vision and mission the organisation has been toiling hard and making efforts by fulfilling its goals and objectives. The organization has been relying on the community empowerment strategies, participatory approaches and linkages with government agencies over a period of time.
